Animation Portfolio (video)
Here is an accumulation of my personal work I have chosen to showcase, it consists of 2D animations and 3D animations (See 2D/3D Specific Portfolios using the page tabs above). Enjoy!
The first segment of the video is a still image I did when I started the animation program after switching majors. I call it "Warriors Journey" because it was meant to symbolize my new adventure in animation, I am the warrior staring down his path toward success. This piece really showed me that I do have the skills to make it in this industry.
The second animation is a 3D fight choreography of two characters fighting in a cosmic ring. Over the past few years of animation school, I have done tutorial stuff like walk cycles and other general mechanics, so I used this opportunity to show that I can spice it up with more dynamic posing and camera movements. Working with two characters was also a unique to me, experience as I had to work with the individual timing for both characters, manipulating both the timing and spacing of both rigs to portray a realistic reaction to their opponent.
The third animation is an alternative animation of one of the other characters from the previous animation. I decided to add this because to me this character alone is dynamic enough to showcase a performance by itself. The camera movement is a little faster and this adds effect to the overall speed of the animation.
The last two are older projects that I did in a while back, they consist of a Gorilla walk-cycle and a dialogue animation. I enjoy these animations as they show more than just body mechanics, consisting of facial expressions and dialogue. For gorilla walk cycle I also created sound effects and camera movements to portray a point of view scene of someone capturing the gorilla character. As for the dialogue, I have Raphael performing different poses, facial expressions, and mouth consonants.
Overall, these animations are my favorites over the many I have done in the past. They not only bring me joy, but they are also a reminder that I am capable of more than just general mechanics and shows that I can do more than just walk and run cycles.
